To
teach, entertain, or as a unique fundraising vehicle, an afternoon
with Barney Saltzberg is an uplifting multi-sensory treat.
BARNEY SALTZBERG has been captivating audiences since 1980 as he
visits schools, libraries, bookstores, conferences, hospitals and
even to Disneyworld where he draws pictures, plays his guitar and
talks about the creative process behind books and songs.
He presents a range of programs (approximately 45 minutes to
an hour in length), both academically based and just plain fun,
with
a clear, uplifting message to children: "Your dreams can come alive".
With a calm manner and interactive technique, he takes the children
on a magical musical and visual journey...
Through music, drawing and slides Barney can demonstrate how a book
is created. He explores the process and importance of character
development. And with help from a volunteer, Barney will turn a
squiggle into a character. Suggestions from the group will add life
to this drawing and a story unfolds on the spot. If you've come
to see Barney Saltzberg feeling intimidated by the thought of having
to draw or write, you will leave with the knowledge that you have
the ability to do it too!
BARNEY SALTZBERG is, as one school principal describes him, "an
author, an artist, a humorist, a questioner, a listener, a collaborator,
a delight."

Dear Barney,
It’s not often that we encounter people who are good at so many things, but you seem to be a real renaissance person. By looking at your books, the art and language gifts are evident, but your abilities to entertain, motivate, and touch people makes you remarkable. You gave so much to each of us during your Mariposa visit, connecting to the students, staff, and parents. Barney Saltzberg Day will long be remembered and treasured, and I can’t thank you enough!
Sincerely,
Patty
